چکیده

Arsenic (As) contamination in groundwater is a severe and widespread problem Bangladesh their exposure cause serious health hazard human history. A pot experiment was conducted the net-house of Department Soil Science, Agricultural University, Mymensingh using fourteen cultivars rice (Summer rice) to evaluate effects varying levels As on growth, yield grain contents. adversely affected tillering, filled grains, straw all cultivars, however, effect varied among cultivars. In control treatment, highest (75.66 g pot-1) observed BR 11 while lowest (8.73 BRRI dhan4. Application 20 ppm soil resulted complete death 11, dhan30, dhan33, dhan34, dhan41, Binadhan-4, Biroy Kalizeera significantly increased concentration for rice. grains grown soils without ranged from 0.06 0.13 dhan32 such values 0.231 with 10 0.743 dhan40 applied soils. Among 14 dhan32, Najirshail appeared be more tolerant contamination.

Arsenic in rice: I. Estimating normal levels of total arsenic in rice grain.

High levels of arsenic (As) in rice grain are a potential concern for human health. Variability in total As in rice was evaluated using 204 commercial rice samples purchased mostly in retail stores in upstate New York and supplemented with samples from Canada, France, Venezuela, and other countries. Total As concentration in rice varied from 0.005 to 0.710 mg kg(-1). We combined our data set wi...

The Journey of Arsenic from Soil to Grain in Rice

Arsenic (As) is a non-essential toxic metalloid whose elevated concentration in rice grains is a serious issue both for rice yield and quality, and for human health. The rice-As interactions, hence, have been studied extensively in past few decades. A deep understanding of factors influencing As uptake and transport from soil to grains can be helpful to tackle this issue so as to minimize grain...

Arsenic Tracking in Iranian Rice: Analysis of Agricultural Soil and Water, Unpolished Rice and White Rice

Since rice is a staple food most consumed world-wide, there have been increasing health concerns regarding exposure to arsenic through rice consumption. Several studies have reported the accumulation of arsenic in rice grains cultivated in regions with elevated levels of arsenic in groundwater or contaminated soil. Therefore the principal aim of this study was determining the amount of arsenic ...

Adsorption of arsenic on soil under different soil moisture conditions

The adsorption study was conducted on three Japanese soils with different soil properties to characterize the adsorption pattern of Arsenic (As). Double tube method was used to find out the effect of soil moisture levels on As adsorption. For this study, besides double tube method, conventional batch method also was used. The As adsorption showed two phase kinetics. An initial and rapid adsorpt...
